Fall is officially here. I have a love/hate thing with fall. I really love how pretty it is but I hate being cold. This year I also hate all the things that I appear to be allergic to. But hey, pretty! Maybe this will the year we finally take a drive and hike up through Gatineau Park. We did try once years ago when my mother was visiting but the weather switched on us (surprise! SNOW!) and we weren't properly dressed for the temperature drop.
We'll be hitting a fall landmark this week -- Lee's annual boy's golf weekend. I'm going to be all by myself Saturday and most of Sunday while he's golfing, staying up late playing games, and eating junk food. He'll come home tired, happy, and ready to put a new name on their trophy. (Hint: It's extremely unlikely to be his name. And yes, they have their own trophy.). I haven't decided what I'm doing to do besides the usual library run, grocery shopping, and ordering Chinese take-out. Maybe a movie marathon?
Monday: Spaghetti squash and steak. I've been wanting to make this spaghetti squash for a long time but my grocery store is frequently sold out. There were only three left yesterday when I snatched one.
Tuesday: Pork and ginger stir-fry with black bean sauce. Hmm... I forgot to buy green beans. Oops.
Wednesday: Red lenti & beef sloppy joes. Oops. We didn't buy buns either. At least I can make those.
Friday: Creamy scallops and bacon pasta. I know. It's not pizza. You are shocked!
Saturday: Chinese take-out. If I'm feeling really lazy -- delivery!
Sunday: Roast chicken with potatoes and carrots.
We still have a lot of apples kicking around from our trip to the orchard last week -- though I ate too many to make applesauce -- so I think I might a parsnip and apple soup to have for lunches this week. Fall is soup season. Yay!
What you cooking this week? What fall activities are you looking forward to?
