Meal Plan Monday, October 21

I need a weekend to recover from our weekend. Most of our weekends involve a little bit of work, errands and fun and a whole lot of relaxing and sitting our on butts. We were in Opposite Land this weekend and there was not a whole lot of sitting around relaxing.

We headed to the Canadian War Museum Friday night to preview Peace: The Exhibit. It was really interesting. I know that when many people think of peace they think of Vietman peace protests and yes, they were represented, but there was much more than that to the exhibit. Many different conflicts were featured, as was Lester B. Pearson's Nobel Peace Prize. (That was really neat.) There several interactive areas where you could leave sticky notes on the exhibit, which I love because I love sticky notes. There was also a music station where you could listen to songs about peace (and suggest new ones) and a station where you could make your own peace button. I posted a bunch of photos to Instagram (photography is allowed for most items in the exhibit but no flash photography and anything that can't be photographed is clearly marked). Unsurprisingly my people reacted most favourably to the inclusion of L.M. Montgomery's Rilla of Ingleside. I know my followers! Peace: The Exhibit runs at the Canadian War Museum through January 5, 2014.

The rest of the weekend was spent running errands, which seemed to involved going to almost every store in Ottawa. Then we rearranged the basement and I created at standing desk in my office. (Post pending. I want to use it for a few more days and maybe tweak a few things. That's TWEAK, not TWERK.) It was a busy weekend and next weekend is will be busy too and can I have nap? Please?

But hey! I have a meal plan. Yay meal plan!

Monday: Crockpot sweet potato lentils. I might try to make my own naan. Oh, who am I kidding? It's Monday. We'll be having rice.

Tuesday: Hoisin pork with rice noodles.

Wednesday: I'm home along and I'm seriously hoping for some leftover hoisin pork. If we don't have leftovers I have pears and brie in the fridge and I'll make myself a yummy grilled cheese with those.

Thursday: Beef and Guinness pie. Mmmm pie.

Friday: Shrimp and grits.

Saturday: Halloween party! Our friend always puts out a spread with chill, meatballs, and all kind of yummy things. Last year I made Mason Jar Graveyard Cakes. I have no idea what I'm taking this year. Suggestions welcome!

Sunday: Skillet lasagna. Recipe from Amy Bites, but she lost some of her content in a website malfunction. It's still available via her Best of 2012 free e-book PDF.

What are you cooking this week?
