24 Days of Christmas Books: Hercule Poirot's Christmas

hercule poirot's christmas agatha christieI will confess I am not much of a mystery reader. I do like mysteries but I am an impatient reader and I just want to get to the end and find out who did it. That said who doesn't like some Agatha Christie and murder at Christmas. Enter Hercule Poirot's Christmas, stage right!

I have some friends who are fond of the Hercule Poirot movies. When one of them was recovering from surgery and couldn't move to fast the phrase in their house was "Go slow like Poirot!" So whenever I think of Poirot I think of them. That said, I've never read a Poirot mystery.

(I know. It's shocking. Here, have a Christmas cookie to take the edge off.)

I can't help but think that it must be hard for Poirot though. All he wants is a nice quiet Christmas with a friend but the man just cannot get away from murder. It follows him everywhere. That's gotta suck, especially at Christmas when all you want to do is sit down with a nice cuppa and some Christmas pudding. (Mmmm Christmas pudding.) Speaking of which, If I had a few hours to spare I'd read both this and The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding. I think the two of those bundled together would make a great Secret Santa gift, don't you?
