Did you ever have one of those weeks?

The kind where you keep saying, "I have to go blog about x, y, and z" but then never seem to have enough time to do it?

That's my week. These are just some of the things I've wanted to blog about:

  • White-washing covers - I'm sure you've all know about Magic Under Glass. If not Leila has the best round-up of links that I've seen. But did you know, or notice, that Sticky has been white-washed on the the covers of the last two Mysterious Benedict Society? But hasn't in the illustrations inside the books? Whhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyy?

  • Awards! Lots and lots of awards. And I can't believe I haven't read a single book on the Newbery or Printz lists. Usually between the two I get at least one. I've had a couple checked out but not enough time to read them so they went back to the library unread. DOH!

  • Related to the above - Going Bovine? Really? I'm surprised, only because it seems to have been such a divisive book.

  • Every year part of  the BlogHer conference programming are the Room of Your Own (ROYO) sessions. They are community submitted sessions that the community votes on to add to the BlogHer Conference agenda. Florinda submitted a proposal for a Book Blogging session. If you want to go vote it up please, please do so. Note: you need to be signed in to vote, which means you need to be registered for the BlogHer site, NOT the BlogHer conference. Registration for the site is free (and painless). Florinda's submission is Book Bloggers: Reading and Writing all About it.

  • Why the heck do I feel so compelled to read Debbie Macomber's Blossom Street series? Please, please, please someone - I need an intervention. (Though I would possibly not need an intervention so strongly had I not listened to one of them on audio last year or the year before and cannot get the narrator's dripping-with-saccharin voice out. of. my. head.) More on this eventually because I did read Summer on Blossom Street. Again, why? WHY? (Note: when I do write about it I may not be able to hold in the snark.)

  • My copy of Lauren Willig's The Betrayal of the Blood Lily finally arrived. I love me the Book Depository but I need to remember they can be a bit slow. And that they don't have a tracking system that will tell me where my book is so that I can obsessively watch to see if it's almost here. Now I just need to find the time to read it. Before Saturday....which shouldn't be as difficult as that sounds but I think it may end up being a challenge because each time I blink this week three hours have gone by.

  • And completely unrelated to any of the above and I wouldn't blog it here but elsewhere - the Wii Fit's obsession with weight loss. And possibly the fact that the Wii EA Active sports is KICKING MY BUTT. Well, maybe not my butt but most certainly my calves.

What's going on in your world this week?
