I had no idea!

So I was just toodling around on the internet thinking that I should shut down and go read or something already when I found a little bit of information that just about blew my mind.

Gordon Korman wrote This Can't Be Happening At MacDonald Hall when he was TWELVE. Apparently this is rather common knowledge.

I. had. no. idea.

Seriously. I don't think my elementary school teachers had a clue either because they certainly didn't share that tidbit of information with us as they were reading us his books. Trust me. I would have remembered it. Further investigation shows that it was published at least by the time he was fifteen. FIFTEEN! Make that FOURTEEN! I feel the need to pick up the phone and call someone to share this amazing news but a. as I mentioned it seems to be fairly common knowledge and b. I told a friend and she did not seem nearly so shocked or as impressed as I was. (Then again, she rarely is. lol)

I have This Can't Be Happening at MacDonald sitting on my shelves right now, along with Go Jump In the Pool and Zucchini Warriers. (TCBHAMH and GJIP are yellow, ZW is blue - just in case you were wondering). I'm slowly recollecting them. I love Bruno and Boots. Come of think of it...they were the first "bad boys" that I remember liking. Hmmm...perhaps we best not dwell on that thought too long. Moving along...

I remember a few years ago thinking that it was great that Korman was still writing because to honest, an awful lot of people that I read when I was growing up aren't any more. Now, in some cases this is probably a very good thing (a very, very good thing) but I was absolutely thrilled that Korman was still writing. Now I know why...dude is younger than my brother.  Yes, I did the math. I don't recommend you try it because I also realized that I've been reading Korman's work for more than 20 years and HOLY CRAP THAT IS A SCARY THOUGHT.
