Can't put nothing past her

From one of our last telephone conversations.

Mom: I noticed that when I gave you the scrubbie* you passed it right over to Lee. Does he really do all the dishes?

Me: Yep.

Mom: All by hand? Or do you have a dishwasher?

Me: There was a dishwasher here when we looked at the place but it was portable and Lee wouldn't use it anyway. Since it would only take up space we asked the landlord to get rid of it and then put a pantry where it was.

Mom: I see. So who does the cooking?

Me: Mostly me but not always.

Mom: The laundry?

Me: Lee. He cleans the bathroom too.

Mom: So what do you do?

Me: Not much. I write.

Mom: That's what I thought.
