Book Binge!

The Boy (someday he will have a name...I just haven't figured out what it will be yet...) is going out of town for a few days. So I've decided that I'm going to go on a book binge. I have ooooddddllllessss of books to read, especially since we went to the library yesterday (yay! library!!!!). So...how many books will I read between noon today and noon Wednesday? Any guesses?

What did I get from the library?

  • Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale (yay Hale! Love Hale!)

  • Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer (been wanting to read this for ages!)

  • The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart and Carson Ellis (anyone remember who's read this one cause I can't remember...)

  • Dishwasher: one man's quest to do dishes in all 50 states by Pete Jordan

  • The Yellow-Lighted Bookshop by Lewis Buzbee (finally!)

  • Bobbed-Hair and Bathtub Gin by Marion Mead

You are probably wondering what library I went to seeing as you've all heard me complain for months that the libraries here aren't quite what I'm used to. Tis true. They are not. But between the last time I lived in Montreal and now the Bibliotheque et archives nationales Quebec opened it's main branch in downtown. Most of the books are French but all things considered they have a really decent English selection. Just don't try expect to get much besides the most basic service in English (the information desk lady couldn't even tell me what counter I needed to go to get a card in English - we figured it out through some very bad Franglais). The library is HUGE and shiny and clean. I may end up going there on sunny afternoons to read (and before Cat chimes in and days it's really far away - its a 3.5km round-trip walk from my apt).

Since I'll only be using it for a couple of months I doubt that I'll do any book requests or such things through it although I could. I'll save that for Ottawa. :)

It was nice to be in a library again. I love libraries. :)

(Wordpress.com changed it's text editor and everything looks weird and is in different places. Bah!)
