'Tis true

Book buyers influenced by Canadian Radio and TV

It really is true. Back when I actually used to be able to listen to the radio during my workday I used to listen to CBC Radio. I used to get a heck of a lot of book suggestions from there. Really good ones. It's how I heard about The Girls. And This is Your Brain on Music (which I never wrote about because I didn't finish it...probably shouldn't have attempted that one on the train). And How Happy to Be (ok, fine, didn't love that one). And Lullabies for Little Criminals, which I haven't read yet but really want to. I've also heard about various book events. And of course, Canada Reads is on CBC Radio.

I think I'm far more likely to be influenced by a radio show than by television. Maybe it's just me but I find radio tends to offer more substance that TV appearances do.

If I ever get back to having a fully functioning laptop I think I'm going to start getting podcasts again and listen to them while I clean the apartment or something. Cause I'm going to try to be less of a slob in my new place.
