Revitalized

I'm sure you guys have noticed I haven't been feeling the greatest lately. Work has been stressful and I've been headachey and tense. Yesterday we finally finished stuff to the point where I could take today off. And boy did I enjoy it.

I slept late, showered, dressed and ran out the door to enjoy the sunshine. I stopped at Starbucks for a coffee and sat on their patio and read for a bit. Then I wandered through The Beach/The Beaches (supposedly they are voting this week on what is going to be the official name on the local signs...). I even wandered right down to Kew Beach and sat on a bench by the water and read for a bit in the sunshine. It was fantastic.

Sometimes I get asked why I chose to live in this neighbourhood. I grew up on an island I'm used to being no more than 2o minutes away from the beach. We spent a lot of time at the beach when I was a kid. My grandfather was a fisherman. My uncles are fisherman. Water has played a big role in my life. So being within a 10 minute walk of the lake and the beach is a big deal for me. I always forget how calming the water is until I haven't been there in a long time.

I love the water. I love the feel of sand under my feet. I love the way the sun dances in the waves. I love the sound of my footsteps on the boardwalk.

I am a beach baby. A beach baby that wears a ton of sunblock but a beach baby.

If the weather stays like this I think I can get in a few more walks over the weekend. :) I'm going to try to start doing them after work as well.

And now...off to do some grocery shopping and maybe stopping at the library...
