Oh that Betty! Finding Betty Crocker

Finding Betty CrockerFor once I know exactly how a book got on my list of books to read! I saw Finding Betty Crocker by Susan Marks on display at Nicholas Hoare and I totally wanted to read it. I um, didn't want to pay $30 for it though so the library to the rescue as usual (we probably don't want to think how much it would cost us all to pay for all the books we get from the library do we?).

I enjoyed this book. It reminded me a lot of something that I likely would have read in history class. Or rather, something that would have been put into a course pack so I would have only read part of it (like The Trouble with Normal which showed up in at least three of my course packs but all different chapters in the different classes so I've actually read most of the book).

It was a fun history. A good book for someone who's interesting in cooking/baking or the history of cooking/baking/food. I don't know that I'd buy it. Unless you know someone who's crazy about Betty.

It did make me really want the re-issued Betty Crocker's Picture Cookbook though.
