It’s better with bacon

Apparenlty if I add bacon to things these days I like them.  I can deal with that. Even if technically last night it was pancetta. It's Italian bacon. It counts.

There was the bacon poutine last week. No, I didn't make it. But I did devour it. Soooo good and such a treat because it was the first time I've had poutine in a long time and the first time I've had bacon poutine outside of Quebec.  It was pretty good.  They even used cheese curds! The fries themselves could have been better but hey, totally passable.  Where did I have this??? Ummmm some pub on Bloor West???? They also had like 35 types of burgers.

Last night I made Spaghetti alla Carbonara based on the recipe in Solo Suppers.  It was very easy. You cook a small about of pasta. You cook some pancetta.  When the pasta is cooked you immediately toss it with a mixture of an egg (or two egg yolks), parmesan cheese, and black pepper. Then add the pancetta and the pan drippings.  Stir, stir, stir and then presto! It's done.

It was yummy and sinfully rich.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.  Unfortunately it really isn't suitable for leftovers.  Oh well.

Tonight I think it will be pasta with a cherry tomato sauce.
