October Reading Challenge

I apparently cannot live without a challenge, even though I managed to resist the RIP challenge (how I'm still not sure). So in addition to my "regular" reading and my weekly BlogHer reviews I am challenging myself this month. I think I might make this a monthly thing. But I'm starting now.

My challenge for this is to read 3 books that have been languishing on my list. I'm taking aim at my freebies.

  1. On Living Fearless - Arianna Huffington. I got this one courtesy of the BlogHer Virtual Book Tour. I really need to read it already and I've been wanting to read it, I just haven't made the time for it.

  2. When She Was Queen - M.G. Vassanji. The lovely Deanna at Random House Canada sent me this one. This collection of short stories was nominated for the Toronto Book Award this year. (Finished October 29)

  3. Thirteenth Tale - Diane Setterfield. Another one from Deanna and Random House Canada. Who can't appreciate a book that was so promoted by bloggers that it hit the top of the New York Times bestsellers list?

If you want to join me in creating your own October Challenge please post on your blog and link back here and leave a comment on this post. People who sign up and comment here by midnight October 9 EST (or it EDT right now? I can never remember) (anyway, it's Canadian Thanksgiving) will be eligible to win the book of their choice of the three above. I'll put everyone's name in a hat and pull out a name to choose the winner. And yes, I will ship internationally - you'll just have to wait for me to finish the book first.
