The finalist for the Charles Taylor Prize for Canadian non-fiction were announced today. I've added them all to my request list.

  • The Greek for Love: A Memoir of Corfu by James Chatto

  • Curse of the Narrows: The Halifax Explosion 1917 by Laura M MacDonald (I'm really interested in this's supposed to be really good)

  • Dead Man in Paradise by J.B. MacKinnon

  • The Boys: Or, Waiting for the Electrician's Daughter by John Terpstra

The awards are at the end of February. I'm hoping to have at least one of these read by then. I have a decent chance of that as I am pretty high on the request list for these, possibly because the news was just being released as I was reserving them. lol

I tend not to read much in the lines of non-fiction as I often find that the authors tend to make really interesting sounding topics boring as all hell. I'm hoping these will be above that. If they are not, I will likely quit on them. I do that a lot with non-fiction.
